Incantation #17

December 16, 2017 by Patti King

You came to me in stolen clothes,
to infiltrate my mind
and stroke my skin.
How did you learn the things he knows,
and what to lie so I
would let you in?

Now stay your hands and move away
and take the voice you brought
inside my head.
For I can't dream and I can't pray
so long as your trail
lingers in my bed.

may smells from inside
waft over the sweet facade
